THE All Nigeria People's Party (ANPP) has assured the nation of a good security network that each and every Nigerian will feel free at home, office and business centres without fear of being robbed or attacked by unscrupulous persons.
This assurance came from the presidential candidate of the party, General Muhammadu Buhari, in an interview with a foreign medium yesterday and monitored by our political desk.
The ANPP flag-bearer lamented the security situation in the country and wondered why measures should not be taken to address the crisis once and for all.
He expressed concern about how people get victimized at their homes and places of work, by armed robbers, something he believed was government's inability to tackle the menace right from the initial stage.
General Buhari also emphasized the need to run political parties based on ideologies and not selfishness because, according to him, politics in the country is not being run as it should be.
He further expressed dismay in the federal government's inability to address the erratic power failure inspite of promises and money sunk in the power industry.
He cited the high rate of prices of manufactured goods in the country as a result of the use of expensive diesel such factories use to produce their commodities due to inability of steady power supply from the nation's power plants.
Gen. Buhari also highlighted on the nation's acquisition of abundant wealth in the seven years of the present administration but the citizens have never had it so bad, in terms of socio-economic status.
Said he, "What is the connection between wealth and poverty, more than lack of good leadership?"
He said if Nigerians give ANPP the chance to replace the current PDP national government, "we shall lead by example and everyone will be involved in sharing the national cake."
He added further that education will be improved and schools renovated and supplied with working materials, adding, "teachers will be involved in training of our children."
The ANPP flagbearer also assured the nation of his party's policy to provide enough drugs in our hospitals and renovate the road network in the country to minimize accidents, thus saving lives and property of innocent Nigerians.
He cited example where a farmer who cultivates his farm produce will find it difficult to transport it to the markets, due to dilapidated condition of the country's roads.
Similarly, transporters charge high rate fees en route dilapidated roads because of the assurance of effecting repairs on their vehicles after plying such roads.
He also recalled the PTF days where road construction and repairs were regarded as the backbone of economic development of the country.
Asked if his party would re-introduce the PTF, General Buhari answered negatively but added that a careful survey would be conducted to analyse the damage done to the nation's economy, adding that he could continue with some viable projects initiated by President Obasanjo's administration, "because no government achieves success overnight."
The ANPP presidential aspirant said he was confident that with the nation's stable economy and hard-working citizens, "we will put things in place and move forward to a better Nigeria.
